Ready to enrich arts education for your elementary students? Our elementary school program is our bread and butter, the heart and soul of Art Masters Academy, and we're eager to share our newly invigorated lesson plans with you! Assemblies

PowerPoint presentations with stories about each master artist
Evaluating the formal qualities of various works of art
Understanding of the time period in which the artist lived
Introducing a skill that is the basis for each art lesson
STEAM content related to each artist
Age-Appropriate Assembly Scaling
- Grades TK-K – 10 minutes
- Grades 1-2 – 15 minutes
- Grades 3-4 – 20 minutes
- Grades 5+ -- 25 minutes

Classroom Activities

Students will create a work of art “in the style” of the master artist introduced in the assembly
Students will have the opportunity to practice the skill introduced in the Assembly
Art Lessons use a variety of art materials

More Options for Classroom Activities...

We offer Full Service Classroom Activities:

AMA Studio instructor will visit each classroom and teach a 1-hour classroom hands on art activity lesson. Contract includes an Implementation Guide*.

Or In-Service Classroom Activities:

An AMA In-Service instructor will train a group of parents and/or staff how to complete the classroom hands on art activity lesson. The parent/staff group would then teach the art activity lesson to the students in the classroom

Contract includes an Implementation Guide* and a Lesson Plan** .

*Paper ordering and cutting guide, color sample photos, artist information strips, newsletter articles, worksheets

**Step-by-step instructions for each classroom art activity lesson, color photos of each step

Optional add-on: Concierge Serve

The Curriculum

Series 1

ART ELEMENTS

The beginning series introduces art elements, one at a time, using master artists as examples. Students learn new expressive skills in painting and drawing with different kinds of brushes, art tissues, sketching pencils, oil and chalk pastels and black markers.

Series 2

LESSONS IN COLOR

Art elements are combined with design principles in Series 2. Students learn to apply mathematical reasoning in creating solutions to problems of scale and proportion, while reinforcing and building on technical skills introduced and acquired in Series 1.

Series 3

TECHNIQUE ART

Series 3 units add design principles and more complex studio art experiences. Depth, balance, space, perspective, shading, highlighting, and three-dimensional design techniques are emphasized.

Series 4

MULTICULTURAL AMERICA

This series investigates ‘American’ art by studying different influences, from pre-Columbian times to the present, while reinforcing and building skills.

The Art of Ancient Americas, The Mexican Muralist Tradition, Native American Historical Survey, The African American Legacy, Helen Hardin, Native American Contemporary Art

Series 5

STYLE

Students learn to identify styles as they review and extend with Series 5 artists. The poetic and expressive nature of art is explored in new ways.

Series 6

ART & OTHER DISCIPLINES

These units provide links to other disciplines as students ponder the meaning of art.

Series 7

ART IN OUR WORLD

These units provide links to Art we see in our modern surroundings. From urban art, to POP art, to iconic architects, students learn that art appears in many areas of our everyday life.

FAMILY ART NIGHT

One of our Assembly Teachers will present a PowerPoint presentation with stories about a master artist of your choosing

Following the presentation one of our Activity Teachers will lead the Families in creating a work of art “in the style” of the master artist

This is a great way to introduce Art Masters Academy to your families and PTA!

STEAM NIGHT AT OPEN HOUSE

One of our Activity Teachers will attend a table during the open house to provide a “Color Wheel – STEAM” Make and Take project.
